Turmeric has been used for centuries as a root with many beneficial properties. Information from an article posted on Natural Living Ideas suggests that not only does add flavor and spice to your favorite dishes, but also has immense medical properties.

Curcumin is one of the most significant compounds of turmeric. This compound gives turmeric its anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties. Hence, turmeric has proven to be not only extremely beneficial to mental and physical health, but has been used in Chinese and Ayurvedic practices for natural skincare.

One of the main concerns amongst teenagers in particular is that of acne. Speaking not only from personal experience, but also after gathering research, it has been proven that turmeric has the ability to reduce acne scars by decreasing the amount of oil secreted by skin. Turmeric’s antibacterial properties also reduce the appearance of acne and redness.

Moreover, reduced elasticity, wrinkles and lines can also be reduced by the daily use of turmeric, and turmeric based products. The article also claims that turmeric provides sun damage protection by inhibiting the enzyme that wears away collagen fibers.

In my next post, I will be sharing with you my go-to-all-time-favourite turmeric face mask thats easy to make and easier to use. I hope I have been able to effectively convince you on the awesomeness of using turmeric in your skin routines. Say goodbye to your acne, dryness, sun damage and uneven skin tone with this magical herb!

P.S - How do you use turmeric to benefit from its amazing properties?
